Title: God is Good
The word “exciting” seems to be an understatement when used as a description for the first month of 2009 here at Fairfield. We have certainly started the year off with a bang averaging somewhere around 330 in attendance and over $5000 given weekly to the Lord's work. We have already had a number of precious souls come forward to rededicate their lives to Christ and I know without a doubt that there are more on the way. Another sure sign of growth is the fact that our Sunday School attendance continues to climb. I want to encourage all of us to make a special effort to stay for the Sunday morning Bible class hour. Beginning Sunday, we will display all of the information regarding Sunday School.....teachers, classrooms, student ages, etc., on the powerpoint overhead at the close of the services. We want to do a better job of letting everyone, especially visitors, know where the classes are and which one would be the best suited for them. Our Bible School teachers are second to none and you would be blessed to spend time with them each week.
Not to be overlooked is the fact that we are seeing a number of more faces on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. I might mention that there is a fabulous ladies class that takes place here on Wednesday nights in which there is a different speaker/teacher each week. I have heard so many positive comments from the ladies in that class and know that it has been, and will continue to be, a blessing to so many. Let's just think of Wednesday night services as an opportunity for us to come together and re-charge our battery for the rest of the week. And, what better place could you find to be in the middle of the week than in the presence of your brothers and sisters in Christ? Let me also remind you of the change in the worship schedule this coming Sunday, February 1. We will have morning services as usual.....9 am worship with Sunday School to follow.....then we will have a fellowship meal together around 11 am. I can assure you that a better meal will be found nowhere! Following our lunch, we will gather back in the auditorium for a 1 pm service. Please make a special effort to be here for that service if you can. Rodney Rochelle will be the speaker for the hour, and its a guarantee that you will be blessed beyond measure by being here to hear him. Rodney is very instrumental in the local jail and nursing home ministry, and is one of the most excited followers of Christ that you will ever be around. The 1 o'clock service will then conclude our worship services for the day.....there will be no 6 pm service. The elders have indicated that this will be a quarterly event, which will give members an opportunity to visit other congregations that evening or simply have the afternoon free.
This past Sunday morning, Marvin Truett, on behalf of the elders, made a very exciting presentation regarding our new Fellowship/Multi-purpose facility that will soon go up behind the church building near Fairfield Drive. James Hassell has already been busy with his bulldozer in clearing the lot.....Ronnie and Johnnie Malugin, Kenneth Chandler, Wallace Smith and Coach Spears spent Sunday afternoon with their chainsaws cutting on some of the trees that will be removed, and Greg Conder and his crew will soon begin pouring the footers. In just a few months we will have a beautiful new building that will not only be a blessing to this Church but also to this community! Only God knows how many lives will be touched and relationships begun with Christ as a result of the many good programs and opportunities that the fellowship building will provide. Manila envelopes have been provided in both foyers for those who would like to make special contributions toward the new building fund. Marvin also indicated that the eldership would be happy to accept any blank checks if someone would like to give one! If there were more space, I could write on and on about the way God is blessing this Church. Suffice it to say.....”I rejoiced with those who said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the Lord'”. (Psalm 122:1) The Psalmist David must have attended here years ago :)
