Title: Great Day!
Perhaps these very words have rolled off of your lips more than once.... “I don't think things can get any better than this!” If so, you probably made this statement during a time of excitement, joy, and fruitfulness. As each and every week continues to fly by in the life of the family that is the Fairfield Church of Christ, these words can be heard on every corner. I don't know that this phrase would be any more “apropos”, (ala Ms. Carolyn), than in describing this past Sunday. No doubt, Sunday, March 29th will go down as one of the great days in the storied history of this church. Mike Kelley returned to the pulpit that he so capably filled for many years to bring two uplifting and challenging messages. The Fairfield Church was so blessed to have Mike come its way at just the right time many years ago. I think it goes without saying that Mike was the catalyst of the beginning of the growth of this body of believers. Fairfield would not be what it is now if it were not for Amber, Harrison, Meredith, and Mike Kelley. We appreciate this family and love them so very much.
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it” (Malachi 3:10) As I write this, tomorrow is April 1, or perhaps as it is better known, “April Fools Day”. That being said, I cross my heart and give you my word that what I am about to type is no April Fools joke....the contribution from this past Sunday was a Fairfield record $16,475! I must be honest....I thought when the elders set aside March 29th as the kick-off day for the building fund, that we had a fairly good chance of hitting the $10,000 mark, but I never would have dreamed in a million years that the offering would exceed $16,000! I might also mention that the contribution the week before was $6680, and that was just your average run-of-the-mill Sunday. It certainly tells me that this congregation is “testing God in this” as found above in the book of Malachi. I think I would be safe in speaking for the elders in thanking you so much for your planning and generosity in making not just this past Sunday, but this entire year a tremendous time of offering and “laying by in store”.
There are so many other great things going on.....the new fellowship hall is well on its way to being completed....a new youth minister will be on staff soon....Ladies Day is on April 18, featuring a pretty good speaker (I need all the points I can get)....Biker Sunday will be quickly roaring around the corner....Fairfield Church of Christ 60th Anniversary celebration this summer.....and the list could go on and on. If you currently do not have a regular place of worship, let this serve as your invitation to come visit with us. As you can see, it's a happening place. Come be a part of the happening with us.
Go the extra mile - Devin
