Title: Jail Ministry

What an awesome day! Another lost sinner saved by the precious blood of Jesus and added to the kingdom! This past Sunday, Fairfield hosted the jail ministry. Devin, Paul and Bob McDonald conducted services for the women, while Gary Basford, John Alderman, and I conducted the services for the “C” and “D” pods. The “A” pod had been “bad boys” and were under lock down at the time. To my understanding, lock down means they cannot get out for any reason. Their punishment also included no worship services from any of the churches. But, that didn't hinder us from spreading God's Word to the other pods.

As I said earlier, What an Awesome Day! Mr. James Brown, (not the singer), felt the Holy Spirit move on him and he found his way to us and requested to be baptized! Arrangements are being made as I write this bulletin article to fulfill his request. Thank you God! Folks, I cannot describe how rewarding it feels after you have delivered a message from God's Word, and someone tells you they want Jesus Christ in their life! Congrats James Brown ..... you have made the most important decision in your entire life! There is no amount of money that could buy that feeling that I had Sunday after- noon! Now I know how Devin feels just about every Sunday or Wednesday night. Keep up the good work Devin ..... you are doing great!

Folks, if you have never taken part in this ministry, I urge you to c limb aboard! Is your spirit kinda dragging? Are you just getting your card “punched” on Sunday? Go with us! I promise you, it will be one of the most uplifting experiences you have ever taken part of. To see these men reading scriptures, leading songs and saying some of the most beautiful prayers you have ever heard! But, I've saved the best part for last. When they come in, they all have smiles and give you hugs! When they leave, they thank us ..... thats right, they thank us for coming! Gary Basford always says when we are leaving, that “I can't wait to come back!”

The churches that are involved in the jail ministry (Centerville Church of Christ, Fairfield Church of Christ, Twomey Church of Christ, Salem Church of Christ) will be hosting a dinner for the inmates and staff on Saturday, June 27th. The dinner will consist of (1) hamburger, (1) hot dog, potato salad, baked beans, (1) ice cream sandwich, and a 20 oz Mountain Dew. The total amount of dinners needed will be around 125. I took the liberty and volunteered Fairfield to furnish the hamburger buns, hot dog buns, and the 20 oz Mt. Dews. I am now begging!! Please, Please, Please ..... Any help with these items would be greatly appreciated. There will be a sign-up sheet in the front lobby of the church if you are so kind to help! The meals will be delivered at 4:00 pm Saturday but we'll need the buns by 12:00 noon. I can meet you at the Fairfield Church of Christ or they also can be delivered to the fellowship hall at the Centerville Church of Christ. Thank you so much for all that you do! “I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” Matthew 25:36 (NIV)
