It’s back pattin’ time. This past Sunday, Fairfield’s new “yellow pages” pocket directory made its debut. This booklet of information will be very useful for those needing Fairfield member addresses, phone numbers and the such. This compilation certainly did not come into existence by itself. Many hours of labor were put into the gathering of facts, collating info., copying, stapling, and probably ten other things that I am not aware of. A gigantic THANK YOU to Mary Copley and Lori Cochran for your willingness to undertake such a task. On their behalf, let me say that it is virtually impossibly to put together such a work without an honest mistake or two. If you know of any information that is incorrect or was left out, please be sure to call the church office with the additions and/or corrections.

Be sure to check out the pulpit the next time you are in the building. Jim Carlucci has constructed new hand rails on both sides of the rostrum that are very useful and attractive. Mr. Carlucci spent many hours on this project measuring, sawing, gluing, nailing, eye-balling, and scratching his head. This was not simple carpentry; it took quite a bit of thought and expertise to get the job done. Thank you Jim for all your hard work. As Paul Rogers would say, “You did good!”

If you didn’t have a chance to get out to the fish fry this past Saturday, you missed a real treat. This has become one of the highlights of the year at this church. A big thanks as always goes out to the Chandler brothers and their buddies who are second to none in their fish culinary skills. Thanks to everyone who brought other dishes to go with the meal, to those who helped in other ways, and to those who showed up to eat. As always, there was plenty of food with some left over. And as always, a few stray preachers (Edger Clyde Beard, Larry Buchannan, and Bill Perkins, perhaps along with others) somehow found their way into the chow line. Preachers generally have only two requirements for attending a fellowship meal: free and fried!

Thank you to all who are so faithful in making phone calls, sending cards, and other acts of kindness to those who are sick, struggling, or just having a difficult time with life. I hear so many compliments from those outside the Fairfield Church of Christ who say they have been touched by the compassion of so many from this body. Thanks to those of you who have been so kind as to make cookies that are used in visitation. The people who receive them always compliment the cooks! Thanks to the wonderful ladies who show up each week on Wednesday morning to fold, seal, and label the Provider so that it might be promptly mailed; Fairfield would be lost without them. Thanks to those of you who mow the lawn. Thanks to those of you who greet each visitor that comes in this building with a smile and a “hello”. Thanks to those of you who donate money for various causes at a minutes notice. I am so proud to be a part of the Fairfield Church of Christ. God continues to bless this church abundantly with spiritual and physical growth. He couldn’t do it without you.

Go the extra mile - Devin
