Title: Cowboys, Bikers and Homecoming
Okay, okay, I get it ..... all you had to do was say so. This past Sunday the house was full and the contribution was at a near “regular Sunday” record high! Really, I can take a hint. Perhaps it was just coincidence ..... but then again, maybe not. It just so happens that Woody Woodruff was our guest speaker during our morning worship hour. It just so happens that this “Cowboy Poet” is a pretty famous dude after having won numerous national awards for his words of rhyme and also having been in the “Hannah Montana Movie”. It just so happens that this same cowboy is going to be in another movie, this time a Christian film entitled “Class of 91” where he plays a Sunday school teacher. So, I'm not exactly satisfied that all of these great things “just so happened” to happen on the day this famous feller spoke. It's alright, really ..... maybe the elders will still let me preach when we have a fifth Sunday. All joking aside, Sunday was awesome! From Woody's great message to all the visitors on every corner, it was truly a day to remember. Add to all that, the unveiling of the new baptistry photograph of a beautiful waterfall area of the Little Piney, another near record Sunday School attendance, and the baptism of a wonderful woman performed by her husband, and one would have to say that it surely was a day the angels in heaven rejoiced!
We just want to remind you of a couple exciting upcoming events at 1860 Highway 100. Sunday, October 18 will be Fairfield's annual “Biker Sunday”. This day of worship has become one of the highlights of the year for this congregation and this community. Without exception, Biker Sunday is usually one of the most well attended services we have and we hope this year will be no exception. Please be inviting your biker buddies to come share this special day with us. After the 9am worship hour, we will feed our two-wheeled buddies burgers and hot dogs and then leave for an afternoon ride. No doubt, it will be a great day to be in attendance. Please be making plans to be here, even if you do ride in on four wheels!
November 1 will truly be a day to remember. On this first Sunday in the Thanksgiving month, the Church of Christ at Fairfield will celebrate its 60th anniversary as a congregation of God's people. We hope that you are already inviting, inviting, and inviting! Mike Kelley, one of this church's finest ministers from the past, will once again grace the pulpit at Fairfield and will without question deliver a fine message from the Word of God. The goal has been set to have an attendance exceeding 600 people. If we all successfully just invite one person, the 600 mark will be blown away. Of course, there will be plenty of food that day, with a special treat of being able to eat in our new fellowship facility. It's gonna be a day that you will not want to miss. It seems lately though, that could be said about every day here :)
Go the extra mile - Devin
