A great day to be alive! As I write this morning, (Tuesday), the sun is out shining and its supposed to be unseasonably warm today, perhaps with the temperature rising into the mid-70’s. It’s hard to believe that we are just a few days away from Christmas. The older I get, the more I realize the truth about time moving at a faster pace the longer you live. It seems like we were just ringing in the new year yesterday and now here we are on the cusp of 2008. Let’s already begin making resolutions to make every minute of every day count. Let’s not waste a single breath the Lord has blessed us with.
The Fairfield Church continues to have a banner year. We have a steady stream of visitors each week with many eventually becoming members of the Fairfield family. We rejoiced Sunday night at the restoration of a fine Christian woman and the baptism of her husband. There are no doubt others who are considering the state of their spiritual lives and the need to repair them. Many of you who are reading this right now will never know the amount of prayers that are lifted up to our Heavenly Father on your behalf. Those prayers are in the hopes that the Lord continues to give you the time that you need to make the changes in your life that you need to make. You could never give a greater Christmas gift to your family than that of your own decision to follow Christ or to begin following Him again.
I want to extend a special invitation to any and all to be with us for worship this coming Sunday night at 6pm to hear our guest speaker, Bob McDonald. Of course, Bob and the McDonald family are no strangers to anyone around these parts. Bob’s life in this small town, much like the rest of ours, has been an open book. He will be the first to tell you of the struggles he has had and the difficulties he has encountered, with many of them simply being the result of poor choices. Bob will be here to share his life story and convey his message of forgiveness and hope. Certainly a message for all, let’s be sure to try to invite all the young people we can. Bob’s story just might be the eye opener that some of our teen-agers need.
Hope you are making plans to spend the day with us this coming Sunday.
